Founder
Christopher Petersen is recognized as a pioneer across credit, debit, prepaid, EBT, and loyalty technologies, leading innovation in payments for 20+ years. He has built four payment processors, authored 15 patents, and designed the first network tokenization solution cited by Visa and Mastercard as the inspiration for their own systems.
Christopher’s leadership has fueled seven successful startup exits to industry giants like Google, Microsoft, FIS, and multiple IPOs. Driven by a passion for financial inclusion, he founded Mica to make payments simpler, more affordable, and accessible. He believes payment networks should empower both merchants and consumers, not burden them with excess fees and complexity.
Grounded in this vision, Mica offers a flexible, API-driven payment network that enables even the smallest retailers to connect directly—removing barriers imposed by legacy systems. Christopher holds an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business.
